Phosphate Fertilizer Production Process

  1. Crushing & Grinding: Phosphate rock is crushed and ground into a fine powder to ensure complete chemical reaction.

  2. Acidulation / Reaction: The powder is mixed with sulfuric or phosphoric acid in a reactor. This “aging” process converts the phosphorus into a plant-available form.

  3. Granulation: The reacted material (or slurry) is fed into a rotary drum or disc granulator where it forms into uniform granules.

  4. Drying & Cooling: High-temperature drying removes moisture to prevent caking, followed by cooling to prepare for storage.

  5. Screening: The granules are screened; qualified products move to the next step, while others are recycled back to the granulator.

  6. Coating (Optional): A thin layer of oil or wax can be applied to prevent moisture absorption.

  7. Packaging: The final product is automatically weighed, filled into bags, and sealed for distribution.
